Hand Made Beaded Jewelry

Making beaded jewelry is one of the, if not the, most popular craft. It is comforting to know that by using the hands, enthusiasm, passion, creative abilities and great ideas many useful and unique things can and are being made daily.

Jewelry-making is only one such craft or hobby that is embraced by millions of people around the world daily.

This type of jewelry making started four years ago for me when I ordered a meter of sterling silver chain on-line to wear with a beautiful pendant I have. Not realizing the chain did not come finished with enclosures, I was a bit disappointed to say the lease.

I could not wear the pendant to a wedding I was attending in couple days. I needed to size it and attach hooks.

The Big Surprise

After consulting with a few friends, I reluctantly walked into a bead store in Toronto, Ontario and low and behold a whole new world opened up right before my very eyes. Jewelry-making products were every where.

It was a small store and crammed with people who were quietly examining and buying from the thousands of different types of beads, findings, books, etc. These people were serious beaders, in the habit of making beaded jewelry.

I blended in immediately asking questions and selecting what I wanted.

These beads were among my first purchase.

Remember, I went there only to buy the enclosures.

I walked out of the store two and a half hours later with over four hundred dollars worth of products.

Yes, I felt guilty about the amount of money I spent but, with a renewed spirit and enthusiasm to make some choiced jewelry pieces for myself.

Of course, I was able to finish the chain in time to wear it to the wedding and felt very proud of my accomplishment.

And Now...?

Four years later the creative ideas are still flowing and I am still walking out of bead stores wondering why I spent so much money.

After a full days work I can turn on my creative side and relax with jewelry making and designing. As you can see it evolved into my designing this website, as well.

Hand Made Beaded Jewelry

It is indeed very calming to create by hand. A welcome friend to help relieve stress after a long day. I find this type of work relaxing and very enjoyable.

For beginners, it is easier to start out using jewelry making kits that can be bought at bead stores. In addition, jewelry making instructions and ideas can be picked up.

Look for pattern books and magazines. These will give you design ideas and step by step instructions.
